Rubix Germany has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire Walter Gondrom GmbH & Co. KG, based in Cologne, and the affiliated companies of the Gondrom Group.

The acquisition is part of Rubix’s M&A strategy. It is subject to the approval of the relevant anti-trust authorities and is expected to complete in April 2020.

Gondrom is one of the leading providers of flow products and services with over 60 years’ experience. Since 1995 the business has specialised in the supply of technical hoses, fittings and accessories for the transfer of a wide range of liquids, powders and other bulk materials that are transported using silo trailers. The company provides a complete range from the leading brands in the category, including its own brand, Silgon, which covers everything from couplings to valves.

The company predominantly fulfils the recurring replacement requirement of major European logistics operators but also supports the initial build. Gondrom’s technical experts work closely with customers to meet their needs through product modifications and custom-made solutions.

With over 100 employees across seven locations in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, as well as sales partners in Poland, Romania, Sweden, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, Gondrom is close to its customers throughout Europe. Last year the company generated sales of €28m.

Gondrom has been led by two managing directors – Gabriele Kalesse and Frank Gerdell. Frank will join Rubix and continue to lead the business and Gabriele is retiring as part of the process.

Reinhard Banasch, CEO Rubix DACH, said: “Gondrom is well known for a very high quality product range and is a leader in its segment thanks to first-class customer service. We will use our combined expertise to expand the range of products and services available to our customers.”

Gabriele Kalesse, Managing Director of Gondrom, said: “I am very proud of what we have achieved together at Gondrom. The company will continue to build on that success as part of Rubix. I can’t think of a better and more capable business than Rubix to take over and advance our company. This will make it easier for me to step back and retire with confidence.”

Frank Gerdell, Managing Director of Gondrom, added: “We are very excited at the prospect of joining the Rubix family. Access to Rubix’s service portfolio, resources and geographic reach will significantly improve our customer-centric approach so that we can create more value for all of our customers and expand our offering. I am very positive about our future development and cannot wait to get started.”
